It is recommended that patients have a complete physical once every year. It is advised that these appointments are booked well in advance as the availability for these types of appointments is less due to doctors only taking 4-6 physicals a day. Physicals are booked for 20-30mins.

Botox Therapeutic treatments for Migraine headaches has been offered for many years with great success.
Migraine is a complex condition with a wide variety of symptoms. For many people the main feature is a painful headache. Other symptoms include disturbed vision, sensitivity to light, sound and smells, feeling sick and vomitting.
The symptoms will vary from person to person and individuals may have different symptoms during different attacks. Attacks may differ in length and frequency. Migraines usually last from 4 to 72 hours and most people are free from symptoms between attacks. Migraines can have an enormous impact on work, family and social lives.

Treatment for Migraines with Botox involves a series of injections or specific sections of the head and neck with relief from Migraine pain lasting approximately twelve weeks.
Botox has proven to be an effective treatment option for Migraines. Medical or therapeutic botox is often covered through extended insurance when prescribed and injected by a medical professional. The consults are covered by Alberta Health Care and your treatment options can be discussed with assistance provided to enlist the help of your third party insurer.
Pregnant? The clinic will be responsible for the first Prenatal appointment at 10-12 weeks and subsequent prenatal's every month until such time that an OBGYN is able to take over care.
The first Prenatal Visit is 30 min and consists of a thorough physical assessment, much like your yearly physical. Follow up Prenatal's are 10-15 min in length. Any of our Physicians are happy to do Prenatal care, however only two of our Physicians continue through to delivery. Dr. Shauna Mercer tends to low risk maternity patients wishing to deliver out of the High River Hospital, and Dr. Deanna Campbell does low risk deliveries out of the Rockyview General Hospital. Our clinic can refer to another delivery group based on delivery Hospital preference, or if a high risk pregnancy occurs.
Get Control Respiratory Program:
This program has been designed to help physicians get asthma and COPD patients in control of their disease, if they are still experiencing symptoms despite treatment.
Patients enrolled in the Get Control program will receive a comprehensive respiratory assessment, detailed education, and a review of their inhaler technique from a personal session with a Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE).
GPs will receive a detailed report of all assessments and education provided to their patients, as well as a summary of the CRE’s management recommendations.
If you do not have a family physician or are needing to be seen on a more urgent basis then your current family physician is able to accomidate then you are able to book a Same Day Appointments with a physician who is available. These appointments are provided on a first call, first served basis. Most evening and weekend appointments are booked solely on a same day basis.
This service is available to all of our Family Practice patients but also for patients that cannot get in to see their own Physician in another clinic, or are new to the community. All patients are welcome and can benefit from our services

Oakridge Medical partnered with Funktional Sleep Solutions to offer sleep services to our patient base. If you suffer from daytime fatigue, nighttime choking, loud snoring, morning headaches, or sleep apnea, then you should be tested.
Funktional Sleep solutions offers Sleep testing, CPAP therapy, mask replacements and ongoing treatment support.
The sleep study is performed with user friendly equipment. It takes 15 minutes for orientation.The study is then administered by the patient in their home during a normal night's sleep. It gives a clear picture of whether a patient has Obstructive Sleep Apnea, how severe it is, and how low their oxygen levels fall during sleep. A diagnosis is made by a sleep specialist.

The Reception will ask you to be as specific as possible with your concern so they can discern how much time to book for your appointment . Standard Appointment slots are never for Physical exams or procedures, these must be specifically requested.

Prior to traveling out of Canada, patient's should book an appointment to discuss the travel advisories for their specific destination. Our Physicians can advise you on all necessary precautions to take, as well as any injections or preventative prescriptions you may require to ensure your safety and ongoing health. Alberta Health Care does not cover these services, so they do fall under the uninsured service fee guideline. Speak to the staff to inquire about the fees. These fees are due prior to the services being provided.
Any apt booked to discuss travel outside of Canada must be booked as a Travel Medicine Consult, not as a standard appointment so appropriate time and fee information can be provided. Since AHC does not even cover the appointment fee, we want to inform our patients properly before the service is provided. This eliminates any confusion or surprise regarding personal responsibility for fees inccured.
There are strict rules governing work related injuries. Please inform the staff upon booking if your injury or illness was work related. There is paperwork that must be completed in order for you to receive compensation for your injury. Whether it is time missed , financial coverage if long term impairment is expected, or if long term treatment will be required. It is imperative that it be documented properly from the start.
